Tomb Raider Movie Based On Recent Game Reboot

Tomb Raider Director Roar Uthaug

Tomb Raider Director Roar Uthaug has revealed that the new film will be inspired by the recent reboot of the game.

The film will be on origin story, much like the 2013 Tomb Raider game. The game was about how Lara Croft starts her journey and sees her take on her first adventure. After being shipwrecked on a South Pacific Island and encountering a cult of survivors, she begins to develop into a strong hero figure. Uthaug stated that, “I think making Lara Croft feel like a real human being, that’s definitely something we want to bring to the big screen as well.”

“I think we’ll want to make people relate to Lara as a character,” he continued. “I’m hoping to bring some of my Norwegian sensibilities to the franchise.”

We still don’t know quite how closely the film adaptation will follow the story in the recent games, but there are certainly some strong storylines and character development that would work well on the big screen.

The film is set to come out in 2017.
