With many exciting details emerging concerning EA and DICE’s upcoming FPS behemoth, Battlefield 3, it’s a shame that so much attention seems to be aimed towards the news that the games multiplayer component will only support 24 players on 360 and PS3 in comparison with the PC versions mighty 64 player cap.
While we would all prefer to see 64 player battles on PS3 and 360, in the grand scheme of things, I’m sure it won’t be too big an issue…..hopefully.
Either way, I’d prefer to focus on the utterly fantastic use of the Frostbite 2.0 engine, a move towards greater realism and the team’s commitment to creating the most believably destructible environments of all time.
Bad Company 2 is a fantastic game but the news that Battlefield 3 will use a separate story set primarily in Sulaymaniyah, Iraqi Kurdistan, with what I can only imagine to be a more quip free script, really is good news as far as I’m concerned. While many enjoyed the more light hearted chat of the Bad Company boys, I think a move towards realism is a sign that EA and DICE believe that the latest Battlefield will be able to take on the mighty Call of Duty in a face to face battle.
