One of 2011’s biggest releases has just become one of 2012’s instead. Mass Effect 3, the final part of Bioware’s epic space opera trilogy has sadly been pushed back to the first three months of 2012.
As a huge fan of the series, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed by the delay, but if the extra time means greater levels of polish and an altogether superior product, well, I for one will be happy to wait until 2012.
According to Executive Producer, Casey Hudson, “The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations.”
Given the ridiculously high standards set by Mass Effect 2, it’s understandable that Bioware wouldn’t want to release Mass Effect 3 until they are completely happy with the final product – will the additional development time make Mass Effect 3 a befitting conclusion to one of gaming’s finest series? I guess we will all find out next year.
