It’s fair to say that the video gaming industry hasn’t been overly enthusiastic about the Wii U. With on-going rumours of a soft lauch, only sad smatterings of queueing fanboys at midnight store openings and many retail outlets with unsold units, there was an increasing danger of perception becoming reality.
In fact, in the US, the Wii U has begun its life almost as successfully as the Wii did. Nintendo has announced that the Wii U sold 425,000 units in it’s first week on sale, which is only 5,000 less than the Wii which, by contrast, was the subject of huge amounts of hype and furore.
