Electronic Arts clinches deal to make Star Wars games

Star WarsWhen Disney parted with $4 billion and change for the entire Star Wars kit and kaboodle, it was quick to make clear that it had no intention of making any big-budget Star Wars video games itself. Instead, it intended to outsource those opportunities, and now it has, with Electronic Arts securing the much sought after license.

EA have confirmed that, along with BioWare, already the creators of The Old Republic MMO, their Visceral and DICE studios (makers of the Dead Space and Battlefield series respectively) will also be releasing Star Wars-related titles.

While the deal with EA is a multi-year affair that gives the company the freedom to develop core games across multiple platforms, Disney retains the rights to develop mobile, social and online Star Wars titles.
