Sony To Offer Free Games and Services for PSN Outage

PSNSony will be offering two free games from an unspecified list for Playstation 4, Playstation 3 or Playstation Vita titles to PlayStation Network members as part of its apology for the Playstation Network Outage over the Christmas Period.

In addition Playstation Plus members will receive a small credit to their Playstation Plus accounts plus free access to its premium service Music Unlimited for a month. Non PlayStation Plus members will receive a months trial to Playstation Plus and Music Unlimited.

A Sony representative stated “Once we restore the PlayStation Network, you will have the opportunity to claim your Welcome Back gifts. Please note that the Welcome Back programme is only available for those countries with access to PlayStation Store. All existing PlayStation Plus and Playstation Network members will be able to access the free games and services from the PlayStation Store”.

Update: At present, 15:00 hours on 27th December 2014, the  PS4, PS3, and Vita network services are gradually coming back online – thanks for your patience.

      • TonyB83

So If Sony employees are trawling this site it must be reputable & true.

    • DJ

Unfortunately this message is not being given out over the phone or via the official Sony website or blog as the titles have yet to be confirmed. Once they are confirmed an official announcement will be made.

  • XxX

if there’s no source, this isn’t legit. That’s what newscasting is. You can’t just advertise hearsay without a source.

    • TonyB83

Just google the first few words of the “official statement” and you’ll see where it’s REALLY from – then make up your own mind whether this is real or not…

I tried to comment about it in detail, but it was “denied by a moderator”.

  • José Manuel

Without a source, this is nothing. Give us a link.

  • P4NCH0theD0G

Well, it IS NOTHING. Here’s the actual compensation from Sony:
    From the Playstation Blog:

Since access to PlayStation Network was impacted during the holidays, we wanted to show our appreciation for your patience by offering all PlayStation Plus members that had an active membership or free trial on December 25th a membership extension of five days. The extension will be automatically applied, so no action is necessary to receive the extension. We will post additional information here on PlayStation.Blog when the extension becomes available. If your membership or trial ends before the extension is available, you will receive five days of Plus to enjoy once the extension becomes available (we will notify you when).

In addition, sometime this month we will announce that for a limited time, we will be offering a 10 percent discount code good for a one-time discount off a total cart purchase in the PlayStation Store as a thank you to all PSN members.
