Predicting the PlayStation Plus ‘free’ games for October 2015

playstation_plus2September 2015 turned out to be a memorable month as I mentioned to equal my personal best with two correct predictions for the monthly additions to the Instant Game Collection titles available to PlayStation Plus members with Grow Home and Xeodrifter. The aim now is to keep that momentum going into October.

My first pick is an easy one as the long-delayed Super Meat Boy finally makes its way to Sony’s machines and as it had already been informally mentioned as a PlayStation Plus title when it was eventually released it’s safe to pencil it in.

Aside from that things get trickier. Looking at games with release dates of October 6th brings up a number of upcoming games but none of the Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition, Metal Gear Online, RIDE or Transformers: Devastation seem likely candidates – while Three Fourths Home which does seem to match the profile is actually a delayed September release. Similarly looking at recent sales helps rule out LA Noire and Max Payne 3 but beyond that there aren’t many clues to what might be added.

All that’s left to me then is to make a list of likely titles and make an educated guess. With the PS4 a number of appropriate games emerge including Citizens of Earth, Magicka 2, Anomaly 2, Minutes, Scram Kitty DX, Chariot, Lost Orbit, Hand of Fate, Axiom Verge and Helldivers while the PS3 has plenty more but those that stand out are Ni no Kuni, South Park: the Stick of Truth, Beyond Good and Evil, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, Dyad, Skullgirls Encore, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, DeathSpank, Fat Princess, Warp, Batman: Arkham Origins, I am Alive, Shadows of Mordor and LEGO Batman 3.

The Vita seems to be running out of eligible titles so I’ve gone for games that are cross-buy purchases with the PS4.

PS4 predictions:

Super Meat Boy (cross-buy)

Scram Kitty DX (cross-buy)

PS3 predictions:

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

Vita predictions:

Super Meat Boy (cross-buy)

Scram Kitty DX (cross-buy)

Next week we’ll see if I’ve managed to get any right myself.  In the meantime please leave your predictions (no need to sign up) in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
