Ubisoft has revealed that the main and most prominent locations in Tom Clancy’s The Division are Manhattan and New York, where the title’s main story takes place.
The open world action title will span over 33.7 square miles and was referred to by the developer as a “sizeable open world”. The title’s creative director went on to say this regarding the title’s map size
“For Tom Clancy’s The Division we are going with Midtown Manhattan. It is because of the 1 to 1 re-creation and the way the pandemic has [happened]. Basically, everything has been hit and there are no more resources because everyone tried to get out. There is no more gasoline in the cars, there is no traffic, you’re on foot.
“With the level of detail we have, doing Midtown Manhattan is a huge open-world experience and more than enough to sink your teeth into. It is a very sizable open-world game.”
For those who are unaware, The Division will see gamers take to the infested streets of New York City, in which players will obtain access to a range of unique new weapons and gadgets, so they may eliminate their enemies, and cure the city’s plague.
