Predicting the PlayStation Plus ‘free’ games for May 2016

Predicting the PlayStation Plus 'free' games for November 2015

April once again saw only one correct result in my predictions of which games would be added to the Instant Game Collection, available to PlayStation Plus subscribers. That game was Dead Star which but aside from I Am Alive (which I listed in previous months) the rest of the lineup took me by surprise. Zombi hadn’t really been on my radar while I hadn’t even heard of Savage Moon, A Virus Named Tom or Shutshimi. What I had learned from the past two months that the IGC titles are becoming increasingly left-field – so the question is would this continue?

Well the first issue to confront this month is the apparent link, on HotDealsUK of all places, that the two PS4 games will be Watch Dogs and Tetris Ultimate. The former would be a welcome addition as gamers have been crying out for a ‘big’ announcement for some time and it’s actually one I’ve incorrectly forecast before, while the latter definitely fits the bill.

Just in case it turns out to be a hoax it’s worth turning an eye to games released on the day itself and there are plenty to choose from with Shadow Complex Remastered (PS4), Battleborn (PS4), Ray Gigant (Vita), Azkend 2: The World Beneath (PS4 & Vita), Neverending Nightmares (PS4 & Vita cross-buy), The Park (PS4) and Push Me Pull You (PS4 & Vita). Those last three all have prices on the PS store though which rules them out and I think we can safely dismiss Battleborn, but the others all seem feasible.

As is customary I’ll now move onto which games are or have recently been on sale, reasoning that these wouldn’t be made available for free so soon. This month that includes a whole host of games such as Alien Isolation, Life is Strange, Diablo III, Saints Row, Assassin’s Creed, Disgaea, Naruto, Hitman, Sword Art Online, The Crew, Metro 2033, Wasteland 2, The Legend of Korra, Dragon Ball Z, Goat Simulator, Dead Island, Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Xillia, Earth Defense Force, Shovel Knight, Street Fighter, The LEGO Movie, Octodad, Wrecked, Killer is Dead and Dynasty Warriors.

That still leaves a lot of guessing to do, especially when it comes to the PS3. Possible games to consider include Ni No Kuni, Enslaved, South Park: The Stick of Truth, The Force Unleashed, Watchmen, Child of Light, Deathspank, Fat Princess, Warp, Resident Evil 6 and Tokyo Jungle.

PS3 predictions:

In the next few days we’ll see if I’ve managed to get any right myself.  In the meantime please leave your predictions in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
