During a recent interview, Quantic Dream boss David Cage has explained how their latest engine will improve upon a range of features regarding cinematography in their latest story driven title, Detroit: Become Human.
“We wanted to push the limits with Detroit and have an engine that would offer us more features regarding cinematography in particular,” he said via the Playstation Blog “So we wanted to work on realistic lighting, especially. So we developed an entirely new engine from scratch pretty much.”
Cage further explained how the engine will also permit a wider range of character features by utilizing skin and hair shaders.
“We worked on skin shaders, we worked on hair shaders, eye shaders,” he said. “We worked on translucency which allows you to, when you have a strong light behind your ear, see that your ear becomes red.”
Detroit: Become Human will see gamers explore a futuristic society, in which companies and families rely on androids to care for them and complete difficult tasks, ranging from family care to negotiators as featured in the title’s E3 trailer, as tensions begin to grow between their 2 races.
Detroit: Become Human ,is slated to debut exclusively on PS4, although an official release date is yet to be revealed.
