Pokemon Go has quickly become a global phenomenon. Since its launch Pokemon Go has been downloaded by more than 40 million people worldwide. Everyone wants to catch them all even celebrities are obsessed. Pokemon Go has been helping people get more exercise, and some with their mental health. Whether you are a parent who wants to start playing the game with your kids or just want to try it here are some tips to help you get started on your journey.

Do not waste your stardust and candy

I do not recommend using your candy and stardust when you first start out for a few reasons. The higher your avatar levels up the more high level Pokemon you will find. It is much better to wait until your avatar is higher level and catch high level Pokemon. That way you can use your candy that you saved to evolve those high level Pokemon. You could also use the stardust that you saved to Power up those high level Pokemon. That would make them even more powerful.Whereas if you blow all the candy and stardust that you have and blow it all on the low level Pokemon you won’t be able to do that. Candy and stardust aren’t easy to come by. The best way to get more candy for any Pokemon is to catch as many of that particular Pokemon as possible. In order to get more stardust you have to place your Pokemon at a gym claimed by your team. That’s why you must use your candy and stardust wisely.

Getting Pikachu as a starter

I wish I would have known this before I started playing Pokemon Go. Pikachu is one of my favorite Pokemon and I know many others who feel the same. You can have Pikachu as your starter Pokemon. When you first start the game the three Pokemon you can choose from is Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander. I choose Charmander out of those three. When the professor asks you to choose between those three walk away from them in real life until your phone vibrates.n They will appear again and just walk away again. Do this 4 times and Pikachu will appear. Then you will be able to catch him and make him your starter.

There are different types of Pokemon

If you haven’t played any of the other Pokemon games then you may not know that each Pokemon is a different type. Knowing the different types there are and who is weak against what type is key to being successful in battle. If you want to take over a gym or be able to beat someone when battling other players becomes available you need to know this. There are a total of 18 different types. Each type has its strengths and weakness. Some Pokemon are more than one type. Take the time to learn the different types.

Pokestops are a must

When you first start the game you may not realize it but you do not have a infinite amount of Pokeballs. You will run out at some point. You could use your real cash to buy some but if you don’t want to do that then that’s where Pokestops come in. You can get Pokeballs and other items for free at any Pokestop. You can even get eggs at some of them. Each egg has a different Pokemon. You won’t know what it is until it hatches. Pokestops are usually local shops, restaurants, churches, or landmarks. They refresh in about 5 minutes if you need more items.

Finding Pokemon

One way to find Pokemon in Pokemon Go is to look for rustling grass on your screen when you are walking or have the app open. That usually means there is a Pokemon nearby. Playing at different times of the day is also a great way to catch Pokemon. You can go to your local park in the morning and find a Bellsprout but if you go later on to that same park you could find a Tauros. If you tap the bottom right corner of your screen you will activate the scanner. It will tell you what Pokemon are nearby. If there three footprints under it then it is too far away, if there are two its closer, one means very close, and if there aren’t any then it will appear.  You could also download the Poke Radar app to aid you in your quest to find Pokemon.
