Developed by Microsoft, Xbox One is the eighth generation of video game consoles. Marketed as an all-in-one entertainment system, Xbox One’s competitors are Nintendo’s Wii U and Sony’s PlayStation 4. Just last month in August 2016, Microsoft released a redesigned model, Xbox One S.
The changes in Xbox One S include the following:
- HDR10 high-dynamic-range- colour
- Hardware upgrades that support 4K video playback and upscaling
- Streamlined design
A hardware revision codenamed, Project Scorpio has been scheduled in the second half of 2017. Some major hardware upgrades are expected then. One of them includes backwards compatibility with existing Xbox One hardware and software, which is a huge bonus.
So, you don’t really need to upgrade to a newer version, your current Xbox One console will be compatible with new upgrades as well.
Until that happens, let’s take a look at some of the popular games that your fellow Xbox One gamers have been playing.
#1-The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Released on 19 May 2015, The Witchere 3: Wild Hunt is the third in the series and is based on the fantasy novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, a Polish author.
A third-person perspective game, you’ll control the protagonist, Geralt of Rivia. He is a monster hunter also known as a witcher. He sets out on a long journey through the Northern Kingdoms while battling against the many dangers that he comes across through magic and swords. You’ll also be completing side quests and interacting with non-player characters as you progress in the game.
This game is the winner of multiple Game of the Year awards. So playing this game is a big no-brainer!
If you love gaming and are a sci-fi freak, then you’ll love this first-person video game developed by id Software. In Doom, as a player, you’ll play the role of an unnamed marine who’s battling demonic forces from Hell. They have been unleashed by the Union Aerospace Corporation on a future-set colonised planet Mars.
The game features a huge arsenal of weapons that can be collected and switched easily by you. It doesn’t really require any reloading all through the game.
This game has done really well since it released on 13 May 2016.
#3-Dark Souls 3
A critically acclaimed and commercially successful video game, Dark Souls 3 is an action-role playing game. Published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Dark Souls 3 became the fastest selling game in their history! It sold over 3 million copies across the globe within the first two months of its release.
Dark Souls 3 is set in the Kingdom of Lothric. A bell has been sounded to signal that the First Flame that is responsible for the Age of Fire is dying out. As has happened many times before this also, the coming of the Age of Dark will produce the undead!
You’ll be equipped with a wide range of weapons to fight the enemies. The weapons include swords, shields, bows and throwable projectiles.
So are you set to role-play and fight the enemies in Dark Souls 3?
Whether you’ve only just bought the Xbox One or are looking to play and add the next classic to your gaming collection, these are some of the games that have done really well and are certainly played by Xbox One owners.
