Sony lit up their E3 2017 press conference with fresh new trailers for games we’ve been expecting, like God of War, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Days Gone, and Spider-Man, and some that came to us by surprise, including a stunning Shadow of the Colossus remake, which you could hear by the audience’s reaction that this game has been on their Christmas list for a remake for quite some time. Sony even had a lot to announce during its pre-show: Knack 2, a new game from the studio behind Until Dawn, Undertale heading to PS4 and PS Vita, and more.
Things kicked off with Uncharted: The Lost Legacy revealing its brand new trailer, giving us a sneak peak at the adventures of Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross.
Horizon: Zero Dawn’s new expansion story DLC, cslled The Frozen Wild, was revealed with a brand new trailer. The DLC will be available later this year.
Days gone made a return to the stage with a new trailer, but no release was announced as of yet.
A new Monster Hunter game called Monster Hunter World was announced. It’s expected to launch in early 2018 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Probably the most surprising announcement at the Sony conference was a Shadow of the Colossus remake, which was revealed with a gorgeous trailer exploring locations and beasts from the original game. It wasn’t officially revealed as a remake during the conference, but based on those graphics, it doesn’t seem to be another remaster.
The next upcoming fighting game, Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite, gave us a closer look of what we’ll be getting into come September 19 with its new story trailer.
Call Of Duty: WW2 showed up with a new trailer, which will release November 3rd.
Of course it wouldn’t be a Sony press conference without including the VR. One thing Sony didn’t forget to bring up with their line of VR games, and Sony announced a handful of PlayStation VR games, including some familiar titles such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and some Sony originals.
- Final Fantasy 15: Monsters of the Deep
- Star Child
- Bravo Team
- The Inpatient
God Of War made a surprising return to reveal it’s official release date with its new trailer and gameplay.
Detroit: Become Human didn’t get a release date still, but it did have a brand new trailer showing off gameplay and some of the decision making David Cage games are known for.
Destiny 2’s new Red Legion trailer also gave us a sneak peek at some of Destiny 2’s PlayStation exclusive content. We also got a new Destiny 2 console release date: September 6 instead of its previously announced September 8.
Sony closed off the show with a full 9 mins of live gameplay of Insomniac’s Spider-Man game, which also set a release window for 2018.
Sony this year didn’t quite mention anything of Death Stranding, or The Last Of Us Part 2 this year at E3 as I’m pretty sure most of us were hoping. Still, Sony delivered with jam-packed games as always keeping sure that we’re our hands were full for when that for both do come. should we hear about any one, or both later this year would be the highlight of the year for Sony regardless.
