Online Casinos: What to expect in 2020

We’re officially in a new decade and although we’re not travelling in flying cars yet – as some sci-fi movies from the 80s suggested – there is lots of innovation to look forward to over the next few years. Whether its self-driving cars, robots taking over our jobs or space flights to Mars; the world is evolving at a pace never seen before.

But it’s not just the significant changes we should get excited about. Innovation will continue to disrupt industries – big and small – and bring new products to the consumer. For those that enjoy gambling online, there is a lot to look forward to. Here is what we expect to see from online casinos in 2020.

Brands will launch new sister sites

One thing that is for sure is that online gambling companies will continue to launch more sister sites. For those that are not familiar with the term; sister sites are online casinos that use the same engine as their related websites but with a completely different look. For instance, if you check out Guts Casino and Cashmio, you would never assume that both casinos are linked in any way. However, the brands are run by MT SecureTrade and operate under the same license and partner with the same game’s developers. The reason to launch sister sites is to create casinos that appeal to different audiences without having to reinvent the wheel. It has proven to be super successful in 2019, and we’re expecting to see more of it this year.

More casinos are going to introduce sportsbooks

It has always been the case that online bookmakers offered a small selection of casino games, but it’s rather a new development to see it the other way around. Last year, a number of casino sites such as Rizk, Videoslots or Mr Play integrated a fully functional sportsbook into their online casino, and we expect more casinos to follow. Casumo is the latest brand to turn bookmaker, and we’re excited to see who’s next.

The reason is obvious; the United Kingdom continues to tighten its regulations around casino games and bonuses, and online casinos need to diversify their product range to avoid putting all eggs in one basket.

What about virtual reality

For the past five years or so, industry experts expected to see the first full VR casino to open its doors, and we’re sure that some of them will predict it again for 2020. While technology continues to advance at a stellar pace and we will surely see some exciting, new features, we sadly don’t believe that VR is among them.

Virtual reality is more than just Internet technology. Besides the additional hardware that’s required to indulge in the experience (such as a headset), consumers need to change their mindset about it. Also, since the use of mobile devices continues to rise, it’s going to be even tougher to give VR a proper push.

As you can see, there is a lot to look forward to in online gambling, and we surely missed some of the most exciting features that casino brands are going to launch. We look forward to 2020 and hope you are too.
